Recently, a joint delegation from the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering of Tsinghua University visited Abosn Dezhou New Materials Co. Ltd.., a professional polyethylene material manufacturer. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the technological research, development, and industrial application prospects of shielding polyethylene materials, reaching preliminary consensus on promoting industry-academia-research collaboration.

The delegation toured the company’s production workshops, testing centers, and R&D laboratories, with a particular focus on understanding Abosn product development and market applications in specialty polyethylene materials, especially in the fields of radiation shielding, neutron shielding, and other functional polyethylene materials. Such materials play a critical role in nuclear medicine, nuclear energy facilities, aerospace, and shielding material applications.
During the visit, professors from Tsinghua University presented their research progress in polymer composite material design, radiation shielding mechanisms, and novel functional fillers. Both sides engaged in pragmatic discussions on the current technical bottlenecks facing shielding polyethylene materials—such as how to enhance mechanical strength, environmental aging resistance, and processing performance while maintaining excellent shielding properties.
